Macaulay Culkin’s life took a turn when he began dating Brenda Song, opening him up to experiences he had never encountered before, including a visit to Costco. In a candid conversation, Song, 36, shared the moment when Culkin, 44, found himself in a Costco parking lot for the first time, waiting for the store to open.
“We were sitting there, and it wasn’t even open yet,” Song recalled during a January 7 interview with Bustle. “Mack looked at me and said, ‘Babe, I’ve never been to Costco before we started dating. We’re sitting in a Costco, I’m wearing Crocs, and it’s not even open yet. You’ve tamed the beast, honey.’”
Laughing at his reaction, Song added, “And I replied, ‘How dare you, sir!’ Then, my agent called. She asked, ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘Oh, I’m sitting in the Costco parking lot, waiting for it to open.’ And she responded, ‘I need to get you a job.’”
Culkin and Song’s romance began while filming Changeland, which was released in 2019. Their relationship, however, started circulating in 2017 when they were spotted together on a double date at Knott’s Berry Farm in California.
While the couple has largely kept their relationship private, they’ve shared glimpses into their life together. In a September 2018 interview with Us Weekly, Song said, “Everything’s wonderful, and I’m happy,” despite her tendency to keep her personal life out of the spotlight.
The pair welcomed their first son, Dakota, in April 2021. A year later, Us Weekly confirmed their engagement after Song was seen wearing a ring in Beverly Hills. A source close to the couple shared, “They are and always have been very in love with each other.”
Culkin and Song expanded their family with the birth of son Carson in December 2022. The following year, Culkin was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where he took a moment to express his deep affection for Song. “Lastly, but not least, I’d like to thank Brenda. You’re absolutely everything. You’re my champion,” Culkin gushed. “You’re the only person happier for me today than I am. You’re not just the best woman I’ve known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known.”
As Song embarks on a new chapter in her career, she reminisced about Culkin’s initial disbelief when she expressed that her best career years were behind her. In preparation for this shift, Song parted ways with her managers and publicist.
“Family life is the most important thing,” she explained. “But to be the best parent and partner, I need to be the best version of myself. And a large part of that is work. I have to honor that.”
